Philadlphia VIP logoPlease join Philadelphia VIP and Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia for a two-part estate planning clinic for Philly homeowners. Training will be provided for volunteers.

The event will be held at Samuel Gompers School on two dates:

  • Thursday, April 18 from 5:00–8:00 pm (training and client matching)
  • Thursday, June 6 from 5:00–8:00 pm (finalize and sign documents before a notary)

Training and Client Matching (April 18): Following a one-hour training, you will be matched with a client from Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia’s homeownership program. Using VIP’s case file and estate planning questionnaire, you and the client will begin making documents like a will, power of attorney, and advance directive.

In between the training and notarization day, you will have time to draft the documents using VIP’s estate planning resources. This time will also give clients a chance to consult with family members and be sure of their decisions.

Signing Day (June 6): Meet your client at the school to execute the estate planning documents in front of a notary and witnesses.

Volunteers should plan to commit to both meetings. Attorneys and other legal volunteers are welcome, but non-attorneys must bring a Pennsylvania attorney who will supervise their work.
