National Center on Law & Elder Rights logoThe National Center on Law & Elder Rights is hosting a free webinar entitled Legal Basics: Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans on March 26, 2024 from 2:00 PM-3:00 PM Eastern.

Since 2020, enrollment in Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs) has doubled. Today, over five million individuals eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid are enrolled in these Medicare Advantage plans, and enrollment is expected to continue rising. An increasing number of states are focusing on D-SNPs as a primary vehicle for integrating care and improving coordination of services for their dual eligible populations. Yet many legal assistance, elder rights, and aging services providers may need more information about what D-SNPs are, what makes them unique, and how they operate.

This training will provide basic information about D-SNPs, their structure, and how they are regulated. Presenters will identify specific areas where advocates can learn more about their individual states’ D-SNP landscape and engage with their states to ensure that D-SNPs work effectively to coordinate care and benefits for dual eligibles, including strategies for centering equity from the outset in the design of D-SNPs.

Presenters:
  • Rachel Gershon, Senior Attorney, Justice in Aging
  • Tiffany Huyenh-Cho, Director of California Medicare & Medicaid Advocacy, Justice in Aging
  • Moderator: Hannah Diamond, Policy Advocate, Justice in Aging

Please be sure to log onto the webinar a few minutes early in order to secure your place for the live presentation on Zoom. If you would like to request ASL interpretation or have other accessibility related questions, please email ncler@acl.hhs.gov at least one week in advance.
