Berks County Bar Association logoThe Berks County Bar Association is holding a CLE program entitled Litigating a Children and Youth Services Case on March 7, 2024 from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM Eastern. The program will be held at the Berks County Bar Association, 544 Court Street, Reading, PA 19603 and via Zoom.

This informative CLE will explain & discuss the role of different attorneys in a CYS case, including solicitor for CYS, Guardian ad !item, and parent attorney.

  • Panel will discuss how each attorney prepares for a dependency hearing and what information, at what time, is provided. 
  • Explain who the client is for each attorney and the difference between a GAL and attorney for the child.
  • Panel will discuss the dependency hearing, what is CYS' burden, and what testimony is presented as well as what experts might be called and what options are there for pending criminal charges.
  • Featuring a discussion regarding termination of parental rights and adoption.
