The Allegheny County Bar Association Homer S. Brown Division is presenting a virtual CLE presentation entitled Pardon Me: Clearing Criminal Records in Pennsylvania on Friday April 12, 2024 from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM Eastern.

One of every three Americans has a criminal record of some kind, and almost half of U.S. children have a parent with a criminal record. These records impact a person’s ability to provide for the basic needs of themselves and their families as records are used to deny employment, education, housing, public benefits and more. Criminal records are a public health crisis in the United States.

For some convictions, a pardon is the only remedy available for getting a fresh start. This CLE will explain the process for clearing Pennsylvania criminal records through the pardon process and will train attorneys to prepare pardon applications for individuals with low incomes. Attendees will also hear from a Pro Bono Center client who was positively impacted by free legal services.

This CLE is free for ACBF volunteers who agree to take a pro bono pardon case within three months.

If you are a volunteer and want to attend for free, contact Holly Bedford at hbedford@acba.org.
