The Practising Law Institute is offering a webcast of a live presentation from New York entitled Pro Bono Basics 2024: Best Practices and Ethics on March 5, 2024 from 1:30 PM-5:00 PM Eastern.

This program will introduce best practices for engaging in pro bono representation, addressing practical issues that often arise, and present strategies for successfully handling them. The program will also focus on key issues for pro bono at corporations in particular, and will include the perspective of in-house, law firm, and legal service organization partners.

  • Understand pro bono basics including the need for pro bono counsel, identifying opportunities, balancing professional obligations, and understanding tools for working effectively with low-income clients.
  • Recognize key issues for pro bono at corporations, including the perspectives of in-house counsel, law firms, and legal services organizations
  • Spot common ethical issues in pro bono representation

Attorneys from law firms and corporate legal departments considering pro bono representation as well as attorneys new to public interest and legal services practice will benefit from the program, as well as attorneys and coordinators involved in managing pro bono programs.

    PA CLE Credit: 2.0 Substantive and 1.0 Ethics Credit

    The Pennsylvania Continuing Legal Education Board has set the following requirements for 2023 and 2024:

    For compliance periods ending in 2022 and thereafter, or until further modification by the Board, the number of credits earned through accredited pre-recorded/on-demand (asynchronous) programs shall not exceed six (6).

    Credits earned through accredited live-online (synchronous) programs shall be treated the same as traditional classroom courses. Only credits earned through live-online and in-person/classroom courses taken during this period may carry forward (up to two compliance periods).
