PA Legal Aid Network, Inc - 50 Years logoPennsylvania Legal Aid Network, Inc. is hosting a free webinar entitled PLAN Utility Law Group: Protecting Consumers in the Competitive Energy Supply Market, on Friday, February 9, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Eastern.

Since the adoption of the competitive energy supply market in Pennsylvania, residential consumers have been victimized by predatory contracts and deceptive marketing schemes.

This one-hour session will focus on how to educate clients, enforce existing consumer protections, and get clients out of bad contracts. You will leave this session armed with the tools to better protect your clients from the dangers of the competitive energy market.

The presenters will be Pennsylvania’s Consumer Advocate Patrick Cicero, John Abel from the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General Bureau of Consumer Protection, Lauren Berman from the Pennsylvania Utility Law Project, and Robert Ballenger from Community Legal Service's Energy Unit.

    This program has been approved by the Pennsylvania Continuing Legal Education Board for 1.0 hours of substantive law, practice and procedure CLE credit.

    The Pennsylvania Continuing Legal Education Board has set the following requirements for 2023 and 2024:

    For compliance periods ending in 2022 and thereafter, or until further modification by the Board, the number of credits earned through accredited pre-recorded/on-demand (asynchronous) programs shall not exceed six (6).

    Credits earned through accredited live-online (synchronous) programs shall be treated the same as traditional classroom courses. Only credits earned through live-online and in-person/classroom courses taken during this period may carry forward (up to two compliance periods).
