Wills for Heroes - PennsylvaniaWills for Heroes provides free basic estate planning documents to first responders and military veterans in Pennsylvania. Wills for Heroes provides police, fire, emergency medical personnel, other first responders and military veterans - those on the frontlines for our personal safety - the tools they need to prepare adequately for the future. Programs are staffed by lawyer volunteers and are conveniently offered to first responders at meeting halls and police and fire stations.

Lawyer volunteers at these events use laptop computers loaded with a software program designed specifically for Wills for Heroes. Using this technology allows lawyers from all specialties to participate in the program.

During the events, each participant meets with a volunteer who inputs information from the questionnaire into the software. A lawyer volunteer reviews the draft estate planning documents with the first responder to make sure he or she understands and agrees to the plan. The documents are then finalized, signed, witnessed and notarized at the event so they are effective immediately.

On Saturday, Saturday, March 18, 2017, volunteer lawyers will be conducting a Wills for Heroes Event, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Bar Association Young Lawyers Division and Widener University Commonwealth Law School and with sponsorship by the Dauphin County Bar Association Young Lawyers Division.

The event is for all active and retired Pennsylvania First Responders, sworn personnel, and Military Veterans, and their spouses/significant others, and will take place at Widener University Commonwealth Law School, 3800 Vartan Way, Harrisburg, PA , beginning at 11 am.
