Volunteers are needed for a Transgender & Non-Binary Name Change Clinic in Philadelphia to be held on June 12, 2024 from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM Eastern. The clinic will be held at The Philadelphia Aids Consortium (TPAC), 112 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102.

At this clinic, pro bona attorneys will meet with income-qualified transgender, non-binary. and gender non-conforming Philadelphia residents seeking legal name changes. Volunteers will complete the name change petition package during the clinic, and then file afterward.

The volunteer lawyers through this event will provide pro bono representation, meaning the clinic will not charge attorneys' fees for the legal services provided and will endeavor to have the other costs associated with the name change process waived as legally and ethically permissible.

On the day of the event, attorneys will be trained on how to complete the name change process in Philadelphia County. Additionally, attorneys will receive training on the culturally competent representation of  LGBTQ individuals, specifically transgender, gender non-conforming, persons of trans experience, and/or non-binary persons.

Shifts will run from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM. and 12:00 PM-4:00 PM., including a one-hour training prior to each shift

Preference will be given to attorneys with prior name change experience and those who are able to file the petitions and help clients complete the name change process!
