Volunteers Needed for Derrick A. Bell Community Legal Clinic - Nov. 8

Derrick A BellVolunteers are needed to provide brief advice on a variety of legal issues to individuals with very low incomes in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood. This clinic is a project of the University of Pittsburgh Black Law Students Association in partnership with the ACBA Homer S. Brown Division and the Pro Bono Center of the Allegheny County Bar Foundation.

Dr. Derrick A. Bell was a Pittsburgh native, a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, and a civil rights lawyer and professor who pioneered scholarship on the intersection of race and justice.

The clinic will be held on Saturday, November 8, 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., at the Community Empowerment Association, 7120 Kelly Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15208.

Attorneys will provide individuals with low incomes with a brief consultation. All licensed attorneys are welcome to participate, but volunteers are particularly needed with experience in family law, wills and estates, criminal records clearing, landlord/tenant, real property, and consumer debt.
