Casa San Jose Seeks Volunteers for Immigrant Legal Clinics
- 2/12/2025
- Allegheny County Bar Foundation - Pro Bono Center
Allegheny County’s immigrant community is facing uncertainty and fear over anticipated changes to U.S. immigration policy and enforcement. Casa San Jose (CSJ) seeks volunteer attorneys to help families plan for the impacts of these changes by meeting with clients at community legal clinics to prepare financial powers of attorney and custody documents, and to screen clients for possible immigration options. The clinics will be held in the Brookline neighborhood of Pittsburgh on the following dates:
- Immigration screening: Mar. 3 and Mar. 23, 9:00 am-5:00 pm.
- Powers of attorney and custody documents: Feb. 15, Feb. 22, Mar. 1, and Mar. 16, 9:00 am-5:00 pm.
Prior experience is not necessary for POA clinics, but immigration law experience is necessary for immigration screenings. Experienced attorneys and CSJ staff members will be on hand to guide volunteers. Interpreters will also be available. Volunteers can attend for all or part of the time—any amount of time you can give is appreciated
To volunteer, contact Matt Jordan at matt@casasanjose.org.
