Wills for Heroes Program Hosts Events in Chester and York Counties

PA Bar Association logoThe Pennsylvania Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Held events Wills for Heroes events in York and Chester Counties on September 10, 2022 to help first responders and veterans obtain essential estaate planning documents.

 According to the Pennsylvania Bar Association, nearly 540 veterans, police officers, fire fighters, other emergency services personnel and their significant others have received this important free legal service at the York event, where there were 321 volunteers this year. At the Chester event, 18 volunteers comprising attorneys, paralegals, law students and notaries assisted 26 clients.

After the events of 9/11, the "Wills for Heroes" program was established by the Wills for Heroes Foundation to provide emergency responders, and now veterans, with fully executed, witnessed and notarized wills, living wills, and health care and financial powers of attorney, free of charge.

Programs are staffed by lawyer volunteers and are conveniently offered to first responders at meeting halls and other locations in their local communities.
