Penn State Law Veterans Clinic Offers Military Mondays at Local Starbucks

The Penn State Law Veterans and Servicemembers Legal Clinic has begun an outreach to veterans and servicemembers on the second Monday of every month at the 2030 North Atherton Starbucks in State College. The first Military Mondays occurred on Veterans Day. The next Military Mondays is scheduled for February 10, 2020 beginning at 1:00 PM.

This outreach is part of Starbucks’ national program. In partnership with Starbucks, the Clinic offers free one-hour legal consultation appointments primarily concerning the filing of disability compensation claims, appeals of veterans’ disability claims, pension claims, and education benefits claims.  In addition, the Clinic will assist veterans with securing counseling or representation in the area of civil law.

Law students, supervised by Clinic volunteer attorneys, conduct interviews and gather information to assist the veteran or servicemember. After providing counseling in these one-hour appointments, the Clinic transfers appropriate matters to its caseload, and assists those with legal issues it cannot accept to find other legal representation.

Veterans or service members may schedule a free one-hour consultation online at https://pennstatelaw.psu.edu/penn-state-law-military-mondays or by calling the Clinic’s office at (814) 865-4290.

Please contact Volunteer Attorney Leah J. Davis at ljd187@psu.edu if you would like more details. Scheduling is currently available for February 10, 2020, March 9, 2020 and April 13, 2020.
