Pennsylvania Senate Recognizes Oct. 20-26 as Pro Bono Week in Pennsylvania

The Senate of the Pennsylvania General Assembly adopted a Resolution recognizing the week of October 20 through 26, 2019, as "Pro Bono Week" in Pennsylvania on October 21, 2019.

The Resolution recognized that "National Pro Bono Week" is an opportunity to highlight the differences lawyers make in their communities, recruit and train more pro bono volunteers and acknowledge the partnerships that form the basis for many of the private bar's most successful pro bono efforts; that the Pennsylvania Bar Association is joining the American Bar Association to sponsor this October's annual "National Pro Bono Week"; and that "National Pro Bono Week" provides numerous opportunities to highlight the good work Pennsylvania attorneys do for the neediest among us.

It went on to recognize that Pennsylvania is a leader in celebrating "National Pro Bono Week," with numerous events at many sites across the Commonwealth, from youth court training in Dauphin County on October 17 to the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Wills for Heroes initiative in Cumberland County on October 26.

Other events recognized included the Pro Bono Awards in Berks County, a special "Thanks a Latte" coffee celebration in Montgomery County and special focus given to "Clean Slate" criminal record review, with ongoing pro bono service being offered to those in need of a second chance.
