NLADA logoThe National Legal Aid & Defender Association (NLADA) will recognize individuals from the equal justice community – the corporate, private bar, civil legal aid, public defense and policy sectors – helping to bring legal access to those who are otherwise are unable to afford such counsel – at its 2019 Exemplar Awards Dinner in Washington, DC on the evening of Wednesday, June 12.

The 2019 Exemplar Awardees are Monica Howard Douglas, General Counsel, Coca-Cola North America, and Frank R. Jimenez, Vice President, General Counsel and the Corporate Secretary, Raytheon Company.

This year’s dinner co-chairs include: Clint Lyons, president & CEO, NLADA Insurance Program; Max W. Laun, Vice President and General Counsel, Arconic; John F. Schultz, Executive Vice President and Chief Legal & Administrative Officer, Hewlett Packard Enterprise; Ernest LaMont Greer, Co-President, Greenberg Traurig, LLP; and David Higbee, Co-Head of the Global Antitrust Group and Clare O’Brien, Partner, both from Shearman & Sterling.

NLADA will also present the Kutak-Dodds Prizes to Frank P. Cervone, Executive Director, the Support Center for Child Advocates and John Schoeffel, Staff Attorney, the Legal Aid Society’s Criminal Defense Practice.

The Kutak-Dodds Prizes, jointly sponsored by the Robert J. Kutak Foundation and NLADA, honor the accomplishments of civil legal aid attorneys, public defenders, assigned counsel or public interest lawyers who – through the practice of law – are contributing significantly to the enhancement of human dignity and quality of life for those individuals who are unable to afford legal representation.

In addition, NLADA will hold its inaugural art auction of justice-themed art. Art from around the country including correctional facilities, have been donated for this unique event. Some of the artists featured include Justyne Fischer and Frank Wu. The full catalogue of donated art can be found here.
