Berks County Bar Association is presenting a program entitled Dynamics of Family Violence in High-Conflict Child Custody and Divorce Litigation on September 10, 2026 from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM Eastern.

Family violence allegations raise urgent questions about child safety, credibility, protective safeguards, and judicial decision-making, These matters require a nuanced and sophisticated understanding of the dynamics of family violence, including parental alienating behaviors, coercive control, gatekeeping behaviors, trauma, evidentiary strategy, and the practical realities that shape how courts assess risk and protect children.

This CLE program, presented by Ashish Joshi, Esquire, and moderated by Family Law Section Vice Chair Courteney Hahn, Esquire, offers a practical, litigation-focused guide for attorneys and court-involved professionals handling family violence cases in the context of custody disputes, divorce, and related family law proceedings.

Attorney Joshi focuses on family law cases involving parental alienation, international child kidnapping; and the author of the ABA's Litigating Parental Alienation book and Litigating Family Violence: A Practitioner's Handbook. Attorney Joshi practices throughout the US and across the world and has represented clients in complex disputes in situations involving severe parental alienation and psychological maltreatment of children, false allegations of child abuse, recovery of abducted children in foreign jurisdictions and multi-jurisdictional disputes
