The National Legal Aid & Defender Association (NLADA) and the Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS) of Massachusetts bring you the 2025 Appellate Defender Training in Worcester, MA on May 6-9, 2025. This renowned bring-your-own-case program will offer a mixture of plenary sessions and small group workshops to help attorneys develop their appellate skills.
The Appellate Defender Training (ADT) offers an intensive four-day learning experience. ADT is designed specifically for attorneys who represent indigent defendants in criminal and delinquency appeals in the state and federal court systems. This national skills training brings together court and appellate public defenders at the state and federal levels, assigned counsel, contract defenders, and Criminal Justice Act private attorneys for a multi-day program. Program content will include:
- Client-Centered Representation
- Developing a Theory and Brainstorming your Case
- Storytelling
- Litigating Racial Injustice
- Persuasive Brief Writing
- Creating an Editing and Review Process
- Oral Advocacy
Registration:
NLADA Members: $800
Non-Members: $900
Program begins May 6 at 8:30 AM and will end 1:00 PM on May 9.
