Wills for Heroes - PA logoA Wills for Heroes event is scheduled for November 2, 2024 at the Widener Commonwealth School of Law, 3800 Vartan Way, Harrisburg, PA.

Wills for Heroes (WFH) is a program under the auspices of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, with the support of the PBA Pro Bono Office presented in partnership with local bar associations across Pennsylvania. 

Wills for Heroes is a free and easy service that provides Wills, Living Wills, Health Care and Financial Powers of Attorney to first responders and military veterans and their spouses/partners.

Programs are staffed by lawyer and other volunteers and are conveniently offered to heroes at community sites.

About this Volunteering at this Event:

 Attorneys:

  • Attorney check-in:  8:45am
  • 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM:  Training (2 CLE credits – 1 sub, 1 ethics must attend the entire training to receive the ethics credit and must volunteer for the event to receive the CLE credits ) (mandatory for those who have not attending the training within the past six months).
  • 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM Appointments – last appointments will be scheduled at 3:00 PM so for the most part the attorneys will be done approximately 4:00 PM
  • You will also receive 1 substantive CLE credit if you provide 5 hours of client services that day

Notaries/Witnesses:

  • 11:30 AM – last appts are notarized (estimated time 4:30 PM/5:00 PM)

A light breakfast and lunch will be provided as well as beverages throughout the day.  If you have any dietary concerns, please plan accordingly.

Other information:

  • Dress is casual (jeans/golf shorts are acceptable).
  • If law students are assisting they may be seated with attorneys until needed at another task.
  • All documents will be reviewed by estate planning attorneys  (experts).
  • Malpractice Insurance is NOT required to volunteer.
  • Volunteers are not permitted to solicit clients or hand out business cards at Wills for Heroes events.

    Training: 2 CLE credits – 1.0 substantive, 1.0 ethics. Must attend the entire training to receive the ethics credit and must volunteer for the event to receive the CLE credits.
