Volunteer attorneys can register to volunteer for the morning session (10:00 AM-1:00 PM), afternoon session (1:30 PM - 4:30 PM) or both. Due to limited on-site videoconferencing capabilities, volunteers are required to participate in person.
Attorneys will partner with Duquesne Kline Law students to draft simple advance planning documents, focused on health care and financial decision-making, in the event of incapacity or medical disability. Consider joining your colleagues for this event.
No experience drafting estate planning documents? Don’t worry! We’ve got you covered. Training will be provided on the day of the event. Each volunteer attorney will be partnered with a law student to meet with clients and draft documents for them. Template forms will be provided. Duquesne Kline Law School staff and RPPT estate and trust practitioners will be available as a resource to answer questions and assist as needed.
This pro bono event is eligible for CLE credit. The Pennsylvania Bar Association is any approved pro bono CLE provider. This means that that the time you spend volunteering for this event is eligible for earning CLE credit. You can earn 1 CLE credit for every 5 hours of pro bono service.
Multiple pro bono activities for the same provider can be added to meet the 5 hour threshold. So, even if your volunteer time for this event will not reach 5 hours, your hours spent volunteering for this clinic can be combined with time spent volunteering for future PBA sponsored pro bono events to reach the 5 hour threshold for 1 CLE credit.
The Life Planning Clinic is part of the RPPT Section’s initiative to increase pro bono opportunities for its members and promote engagement among Section members. The event is open to all PBA members.
