The Social Security Disability Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association is hosting a virtual CLE program entitled How to Prove the Long Covid-19 Social Security Disability Claim on Friday July 12, 2024 from 12:30 PM-1:30 PM Eastern.
An estimated 18 million Americans have developed Long COVID in the last 4 years, with a quarter of those being unable to work due to the condition. This CLE provides an overview and definition of Long COVID, the emerging science on Long COVID, and best practices on how to prove a Long COVID Social Security disability claim. Panelists will especially focus on the subset of people with Long COVID whose symptoms include post-exertional malaise (PEM), an additional diagnosis of myalgic encephalomyelitis (sometimes referred to as chronic fatigue syndrome or ME/CFS), or symptoms that doctors have difficulty recognizing and treating with current diagnostic testing.
Proving disability status to gain benefits can be an arduous process. Attend this program to hear guidance on what’s necessary to satisfy the SSA proof of Long COVID, how to qualify for benefits and complete the claim.
Panelists:
- Barbara B. Comerford, Esq., Law Offices of Barbara B. Comerford
- Matthew J. Gilley, Esq., Partner, Ford Harrison
- Melissa C. Mazur, Esq.
