February 23, 2021. 2:30 PM-4:45 PM.

Co-hosted by the Professional Guidance Committee and Solo and Small Firm Management Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association.

One of the most essential financial accounts of law firms is the Interest on Lawyer Trust Accounts (IOLTA). This is the bank account attorneys use to hold client funds. In addition, IOLTA is an important means of securing access to equal justice for individuals living in poverty, with interest from these lawyer trust accounts being pooled to provide civil legal aid funding for indigent people and support improvements to the justice system. Pennsylvania attorneys have important and significant responsibilities when it comes to maintaining and managing the IOLTA they use. Unfortunately, some attorneys overlook the importance of ongoing education about this integral part of maintaining a law practice.

This must-see CLE will help Pennsylvania attorneys understand the IOLTA system, ensure best practices when setting up IOLTA, alert them to their obligations, and, perhaps most importantly, receive concrete and practical guidance for how to successfully manage IOLTA and avoid disciplinary issues that can result from improper handling of these funds.  This dynamic program will include a member of the Pennsylvania IOLTA Board, a member of the Pennsylvania Office of Disciplinary Counsel, and a representative from the Philadelphia Bar Association Professional Guidance Committee who fields numerous questions about IOLTA issues on the Philadelphia Bar Association Ethics Hotline.

Attendees will benefit from the peace of mind which comes from being able to gain important insight and tools with regard to managing theirs and their firm's IOLTA.
