The National Center for Medical-Legal Partnership and Farmworker Justice are presenting a webinar entitled New Medical-Legal Partnership Practices and Strategies in Agricultural Worker Communities on December 3, 2020 from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM Eastern.

As essential workers prior to and throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, agricultural workers have faced mounting challenges with access to resources required to address their unique health care needs. Community health centers and medical-legal partnerships (MLPs) are well-suited for meeting both longstanding and urgent needs that arise for individuals in these communities, especially during the battle against COVID-19.

Farmworker Justice (FJ) and the National Center for Medical-Legal partnership (NCMLP) will present strategies and tools for employing the MLP model to serve agricultural worker communities. Aaron Voit from California Rural Legal Assistance and Dr. Caroline Kennedy from the Monterey County Health Department will share challenges and successes of the Monterey County MLP. They will also discuss how agricultural workers are at increased risk of exposure to COVID-19 and how MLPs can leverage the resources of the civil legal services providers to address barriers to health care access that have been magnified by the pandemic.

The webinar is open to all and will include health center and legal services staff engaged in a medical-legal partnership.
