The Pro Bono Center of the Allegheny County Bar Foundation/Allegheny County Bar Association is holding a live webinar entitled Representing Individuals Experiencing Poverty on October 28, 2020 from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM. 

Could you last one night in a homeless shelter or navigate life without citizenship documents? With little or no income, how will you make choices about the basic needs of your daily life?

This 1-hour ethics CLE is designed to empower pro bono volunteers to better assist families living poverty.

Pro Bono Center Director Barbara Griffin will be joined by Dana Gold, creator of “Broke, the Game”; Rosamaria Cristello, Executive Director of the Latino Community Center; and Dr. Jamil Bey, Executive Director and CEO of UrbanKind Institute to discuss the needs of individuals with low incomes and attorneys’ professional responsibility to provide them with services.

Registrants should download the free Broke app and play the game in advance of the CLE so that they can fully participate in an interactive discussion.

  • CLE Credit Comments:

    This program has been approved for 1 hour of Ethics CLE credit in Pennsylvania and also qualifies for 1 hour of credit under the West Virginia Rules for Mandatory Continuing Legal Education.

    Attendance at this event is categorized as "distance learning" by the PA CLE Board. On April 15, 2020, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania issued a Court Order temporarily waiving the six (6) hour limitation on distance learning credits for 2020 compliance deadlines. Attorneys in Pennsylvania may now complete all 12 hours of their 2020 CLE requirements though approved distance learning activities. More information on distance learning CLE credit.
