Pardons in Pennsylvania: Helping Low-Income Philadelphians With Criminal Records Obtain a Fresh Start (Philadelphia)

The Barristers' Association of Philadelphia, Inc. is partnering with the Philadelphia Lawyers for Social Equity to offer a free 90-minute CLE program on the changes to the pardon process and corresponding updates to the Pardon Application on August 14, 2019 from 8:30 AM-10:00 AM at DLA Piper LLP 1650 Market Street, Ste 5000, Philadelphia, PA 19103.

This CLE program will explain the creation, dissemination and destruction of criminal records and their impact on people, families and neighborhoods' the differences between expungements and sealings; and the constitutional dimensions of the pardon power. 

The form and purpose of the Application for Clemency form will be examined in detail, as will the process that eventually leads to a pardon hearing before the Board of Pardons in the Supreme Courtroom in Harrisburg. Running through all of this is the role and ethical obligations of the lawyer.
