Wills for Heroes provides police, fire, emergency medical personnel, other first responders and military veterans - those on the frontlines for our personal safety - the tools they need to prepare adequately for the future.
Programs are staffed by lawyer volunteers and are conveniently offered to first responders at meeting halls and police and fire stations. Lawyer volunteers at these events use laptop computers loaded with a software program designed specifically for Wills for Heroes. Using this technology allows lawyers from all specialties to participate in the program.
During the events, each participant meets with a volunteer who inputs information from the questionnaire into the software. A lawyer volunteer reviews the draft estate planning documents with the first responder to make sure he or she understands and agrees to the plan. The documents are then finalized, signed, witnessed and notarized at the event so they are effective immediately.
In partnership with the Pennsylvania Bar Association Young Lawyers Division and with sponsorship by Ballard Spahr LLP and the PBA Military and Veterans Affairs Committee, volunteer lawyers will be conducting a Wills for Heroes event on Saturday, June 16, 2018.
This event is for all active and retired Pennsylvania First Responders, sworn personnel, and Military Veterans, and their spouses/significant others. The June 16th event is being held at the Tinicum Township Fire Company located at 99 Wanamaker Avenue, Essington, PA 19029 (in Delaware County), beginning at 11 am.
