The National Legal Aid and Defender Association presented Laura Stein, senior vice president and general counsel at The Clorox Company, with its 2012 Exemplar Award.

NLADA has presented the Exemplar Award annually since 1991, to pay tribute to those lawyers who set an example by their extraordinary vision, dedication, achievement and leadership in providing quality representation and access to justice for people unable to afford a lawyer.

Stein helped advance several significant pro bono initiatives on behalf of victims of domestic violence, including the appearance of Clorox lawyers in Family Court to represent victims of domestic violence, primarily women who seek protection from abuse.

Stein was honored during the NLADA Exemplar Award Dinner on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at The Fairmont Hotel in Washington, DC.
