Philadelphia VIP Seeking Summer Law Clerks

Philadelphia VIP is currently accepting applicatons for two summer law clerk positions. One clerk will assist with LawWorks, VIP's community economic development project (homeownership, nonprofit, small business clients), and one law clerk will assist on all other VIP matters.

Applicants should be a first or second-year student at an accredited law school who possesses strong academic and writing skills with an interest in and willingness to work with low-income clients. Fluency in Spanish is desirable. Prior volunteer work in any capacity is required.

Philadelphia VIP is dedicated to providing low-income Philadelphians equal access to the legal system in civil matters by referring them to volunteer lawyers.

VIP's cases usually fall into one of the following categories: consumer litigation, family law, homeownership, guardianship, estate planning, immigration, landlord-tenant, non-profit organizations, small business, tax, and tort defense.

The deadline for applications is January 8, 2009, but VIP will begin interviewing as applications are received.
