A special final session of "Get Help Now, Pennsylvania" will be offered in Pittsburgh on Sept. 11 - the National Day of Service and Remembrance - to provide free legal and financial help to Pennsylvanians who are struggling as a result of the national economic downturn.

"The Governor and I have been working closely with Pennsylvania's financial and legal communities to provide free assistance to people in need of financial help," said First Lady Judge Marjorie Rendell. "Families that are fighting to keep their homes, recover from debt, or manage other tough situations can receive free help from our Get Help Now professionals this Friday in downtown Pittsburgh."

Free services will be available on Sept. 11 from noon to 4 p.m. on the 9th floor of the Pittsburgh City/County Building, located at 414 Grant Street.

Get Help Now is a volunteer initiative that connects Pennsylvanians facing economic challenges with assistance from local professionals. At the beginning of summer, the Governor and First Lady asked Pennsylvania's legal and financial professionals to donate their time and talents to support this effort.

Since July 7, volunteers have worked every Tuesday and Thursday at 19 locations across the state to provide free assistance and referrals to hundreds of consumers.

"We are concluding our summer of service with a special Get Help Now session dedicated to the brave men and women in uniform who continue to protect our nation at home and abroad," said First Lady Judge Rendell. "This is a special day to remember those who have served, and a day for each of us to recommit ourselves to public service."

Get Help Now is part of President and Michelle Obama's national service initiative, which encourages Americans to create meaningful change in their communities by engaging in service.

Get Help Now is a collaborative effort of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bankers Association, the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association, the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers, the Mortgage Bankers Association of Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania Association of Mortgage Brokers, the Pennsylvania Financial Services Association, The Office of the First Lady, the Pennsylvania Department of Banking, the United Way, Americorps VISTA and the Community Action Association of PA.
