Volunteers Needed for Low Income Taxpayer Clinic

Philadelphia VIP and the Pennsylvania Farmworker Project of Philadelphia Legal Assistance are seeking volunteers to assist low-income clients with preparing their annual tax returns at the Low Income Taxpayer Clinics.
The Low Income Taxpayer Clinic is an initiative to educate local migrant workers on their rights as taxpayers and involve area law students and legal professionals with public interest legal work.The clinic sessions are held from 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays throughout the tax season in Kennett Square, PA. Transportation to and from the clinics is available and free breakfast and lunch are provided.
Three free training seminars are being offered for new volunteers. These will take place at the offices of Philadelphia Legal Assistance, located at 42 South 15th St, Philadelphia. They are scheduled on January 27 - 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.; January 29 - 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.; and January 31 - 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Volunteers who have worked with the clinic in years past may attend a refresher training course on January 21, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., at the law offices of Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP, 1735 Market St., 51st floor, Philadelphia.
