North Penn Legal Services and the Wilkes-Barre Law & Library Association (#53), as a part of the ongoing Pro Bono Initiative for Luzerne County and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, will conduct a Continuing Legal Education Program entitled, Disability Advocacy, Consumer Law and Health Law Issues Advocates Training, on Thursday, September 23, 2010 from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm at Split Rock Lodge in Lake Harmony, Pennsylvania.

This seminar offers a variety of useful information and training for legal practitioners on several different topics. No prior experience or knowledge is necessary for attending these topics.

1:15 p.m.-3:00 p.m. - Disability Advocates Training

Presenter: The Honorable Edward Brady, HOCALJ, Wilkes-Barre, PA

Topic: "Examination and Cross-Examination of a Vocational Expert in a Social Security Disability Case: The View from the Bench and the Witness Stand."

Credits: 1.5 Substantive CLE Credits.

Presenter: Elizabeth C. Goodell, Esq., Managing Attorney, Consumer Housing, Community Legal Services, Philadelphia, PA.

Topic: "Standing-the Paper Trail from Original Lender to Subsequent Purchasers/Assignees of Mortgage"
and "HAMP Updates You Need to Know About."

3:45 p.m.-4:45 p.m. - Health Law Advocates Training

Presenter: Kyle Fisher, Esq., PA Health Law Project.

Topic: "Dual-Eligibles, Coordination of Benefits, Coverage Type, Medicare Savings & Program Updates, and Annual Medicare Changes."

Credits: 1 Substantive CLE Credit.

Presenter: Jennifer Heverly, Esq., Staff Attorney, North Penn Legal Services, Inc., Williamsport, PA and Erik Hansen, Staff Attorney, North Penn Legal Services, Inc, Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Topic: General Update.

Credits: NO CLE CREDITS. [This segment is a Non-CLE.]



Attendance of this program is free to any attorney who is willing to accept a pro bono referral from North Penn Legal Services over the next year, otherwise the cost is $15.00 per credit hour.

For any attorney attending both segment blocks of CLE courses, the total substantive CLE credit earned is two (2 1/2) substantive credits or three (3) substantive credits. The W-BLLA is an Accredited Continuing Legal Education Provider.

For any attorney wishing to attend both parts of the program, but not willing to accept a pro bono referral, the cost is $37.50.or $45.00, respectively, made payable to North Penn Legal Services.

Please note that the Training Seminar, "Consumer Rights Litigation Advocates Update," does not offer any CLE credit if you attend.

Registration deadline is September 21, 2010.

Space is limited so early registration is encouraged.
