Philadelphia VIP and Women's Business Development Center (WBDC) are cosponsoring a free legal clinic for microentrepreneurs that will take place on April 27, 2010, from 5:45 pm - 7:15 pm at the Women's Business Development Center, 1315 Walnut Street, Suite 1116, Center City Philadelphia. These microentrepreneurs are participating in a WBDC training program.

The Women's Business Development Center (WBDC) fosters the development of successful businesses by delivering resources that enable individuals to start new businesses and grow existing ones. The WBDC has asked VIP volunteer attorneys to participate in a legal clinic as part of a training class for small business start-ups.

Volunteer attorneys are needed to provide free legal advice on immediate and ongoing legal matters concerning the microenterprise. Likely issues include choice of entity, employment, contracts, real estate, intellectual property and tax.

The attached attorney skill sheet allows VIP to match volunteers with clients based on their areas of expertise. Because the clients are attending the clinic as part of a training class, VIP is aware of their legal issues. Therefore, VIP can pre-assign clients as soon as the completed skill sheet is received. VIP requests that attorneys who volunteer for this event have at least 3 years of legal experience.

For more information or to voluntee for the event, see the attached flyer and form, or contact Theresa Brabson at jvolunteer@phillyvip.org or 215-523-9567.
