This article from the The Times Leader, highlights a new foreclosure mediation program in Luzerne county in which home owners can try to negotiate a payment agreement.
During the intial session, twelve Luzerne County residents attended mediation hearings.
Using the assistance of pro-bono lawyers and meeting with lenders face to face, the program tries to bring foreclosure cases to a resolution in an informal setting in the courthouse, where homeowners discuss their mortgage situation with their lender, an attorney and a credit counselor.
Twenty pro-bono attorneys with bankruptcy and real estate expertise have volunteered their services for the program.
