Several Pennsylvania lawyers were recently presented Pennsylvania Bar Association Pro Bono Awards during local bar holiday celebrations.
Richard E. Filippi was honored at a Dec. 9 local bar event in Erie. Filippi went beyond the call of duty by taking pro bono cases from Northwestern Legal Services through the LAVA Program and conflict cases through the Erie County Bar Association.
Chris Hausner was honored on Dec. 13 during an event in Lancaster. Hausner participates in the Volunteer Attorney Program. She has handled more than 55 cases since 1989. This past year, Hausner handled denial of unemployment compensation cases and has gained unemployment benefits for most of her clients.
Cindy Sebastian Conley and William H. Poole Jr. were honored Dec. 13 at the York County Bar Association's holiday celebration for their exceptional volunteer participation in the local pro bono program.
Lawyers in Pennsylvania have many options for pro bono service, and are encouraged to visit the Pennsylvania Pro Bono Opportunities Guide on PAProbono.net to find a volunteer opportunity that fits with their interests and schedule. Please give the gift of pro bono service this holiday season and throughout the year.
