Listing Pro Bono Cases on PAProbono.net

 

 

Posting a New Case

Follow these steps to list a new pro bono case on PAProbono.net:

  • Click on the Cases link in the top navigation bar
  • On the Cases page, click on the Add a new case link.
  • Complete the form to add the resource. Instructions for completing the form are below.

Steps for Completing the Online Form:

  1. Case Number*. Enter a case number for the case. This is a required field. It will usually be the internal number assigned to the case by your pro bono program. If you do not have a program number you can generate a number using this format:
    Program name (or acronym) - Date (mmddyyyy) -Time (hhmm)

  2. Case Title*. Enter a case title. This is the title that shows in the listing in red. It should contain a short description of the case type, such as "Child Custody" or Landlord-Tenant".
     
  3. Description*. Enter a detailed description of the facts and issues involved in the case. It is intended to give a potential pro bono attorney enough information to determine if the attorney is interested in handling the case. Important information that might be included in this would be the location and/or venue of the case and any pending deadlines in the case. It should not contain any confidential information about the client. 

    It is also helpful to include the name and telephone number of the person who is listing the case if they will accept telephone responses to the listing.
     
  4. Posting Date*. Date the case is posted in PAProbono.net. This defaults to the current date.
     
  5. Expiration Date*. Enter the date when the case will expire and will no longer be listed on PAProbono.net. The default is one year from the listing date, but should be changed to a reasonable time for placement of the case.
     
  6. Organization*. Enter the name of the Pro Bono program listing the case.
     
  7. This organization is LSC funded. If the listing organization is funded by the Legal Services Corporation click to select the chck box.
     
  8. City / State*. Enter the location of the case by entering the city/county and selecting the state from the drop-down list. Careful consistency should be used in how the city is listed so that all cases from a locality are linked together.
     
  9. Contact First Name; Contact Last NameContact Email*. Enter the first name, last name and e-mail address of the person who should be contacted for information about the case in the respective boxes listed. Note: Contact Email is a required filed.
     
  10. Submit. Click the Submit button to submit the case. It will not be listed on the Cases page until it is approved by a PAProbono.net site administrator.
