A training program hosted by Neighborhood Legal Services Association will be held for new and current volunteers for the Pittsburgh Pro Bono Partnership's Custody Conciliation Project, which provides attorneys to help low-income parents settle custody cases, thereby avoiding further litigation and relieving children of the difficult experience of a protracted custody dispute, on Thursday, January 26, 2012, at 9:00 a.m. in the ACBA's Academy Room, City-County Building, 9th Floor, 414 Grant Street, Pittsburgh, PA, 15219.
This project has been of immense value to the judges in the Family Division, helping to ease crowded dockets by settling cases before trial. The time commitment is very reasonable; attorneys enter an appearance in the case for the limited purpose of the conciliation only.
The training will include a mock conciliation followed by a roundtable discussion of issues commonly encountered in custody conciliation cases. Existing volunteers are encouraged to attend to learn about updates in the custody laws.
REGISTRATION FEE:
- $0.00 for volunteers for the custody conciliation project.
- $60 for non-volunteers.
- $40 for non-volunteers who do not want CLE credit or for non-volunteer paralegals.
PRESENTERS:
- The Honorable Kathryn Hens-Greco, Administrative Judge, Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas
- Amy Ross, Custody Department Manager, Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas
- Katherine L. W. Norton, Esquire, Elliot & Davis, PC
- Dottie Alke, Esquire, CBS
