This program is designed to help parents, new attorneys, and child advocates identify and utilize the services and programs available to children with disabilities already in or preparing to enter the public school system.
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) was originally enacted by Congress in 1975 to ensure that children with disabilities, just like those without, had the opportunity to receive a free appropriate public education. The law has been revised many times, most recently in 2004, with final regulations published in August 2006, making much of it seem new, even to those who know it well.
Offering you a "how to" guide, suggested "do’s and don’t’s" and landmarks to guide you in the right direction, this course features an information-packed agenda that will arm you with the essential tools for navigating the special education system under the IDEA.
Pennsylvania’s children need your help, and PBI is partnering with ELC and DRN to ensure that these children receive representation.
